Khurram J. Malik, MD

Dr. Malik graduated from the University of Minnesota Honors Program after receiving a full academic scholarship. He continued to excel receiving the CRC Freshman Chemistry Achievement award as the top chemistry undergraduate. The following year, he received the Frank Louk Scholarship for academic excellence and leadership. After only three years in college, Dr.Malik graduated with summa cum laude honors with a Bachelor of Science degree.

 

He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Minnesota Medical School. During this time he received six scholarships including the Medical Student Achievement Award.

 

Dr. Malik completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology. As a resident his retinal research was published in Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science and he received the Harry Friedman Research Award for the most outstanding resident research project.

 

Following his residency training Dr. Malik joined the National Retina Institute where he completed his retina fellowship and continued on as an attending physician. Dr.Malik has presented posters at the 2018 and 2019 Virginia Society of Eye Physicians meeting on research performed in conjunction with pre-med staff members. 

 

He has spoken on multiple occasions both locally and on a national level on breakthrough retinal laser technology, subthreshold MicroPulse Laser, and its applications in diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, central serous chorioretinopathy, and other retinal conditions. 

Dr. Malik enjoys spending time with his wife and four children in his spare time.  He is a fan of playing and watching all sports with a strong interest in basketball.
